Below, I've showcased some of my web design/development efforts. If you have any questions or comments about the sites below please contact me. (Note: Even though I had fun with some of the descriptions below, the projects were serious.)

Worker B's Lawn Care Worker B's Lawn Care is part of the CNF Management Group. The "B" provides full service lawn care for residents of Bloomington, Indiana and surrounding areas.

CNF owner, Chris Freeman, asked me to develop this page as part of a larger project to redesign his website. This is the first animation that I've done. While it is simple and seasoned Flash developers may baulk at it, I'm quite pleased with the results as was Chris, I might add. The only materials Chris had for me was a business card using only 1 color (green) and a description of a colored version of the "B" be had painted on the company's van. I scanned the business card and using my many Photoshops skills, I seperated the bee's body from his wings and applied a motion blur to help with the wing flapping effect. Also the wings had to be extended a bit to maintain continuity to his body during the "flapping" effect. With the pieces in hand, I returned to Flash where all I had to do was put them back together with the wings rotating a bit on a short timeline and then slowly move the whole image up and down to simulate "floating". A drop shadow, a little grass (some cool Action Script here to take a single blade of grass and randomly fill the field courtesy of a nice Kirupa tutorial), some gradient fills, all the appropriate text, and presto!

Summerland Records Summerland Records is the brainchild of long time friends Greg Scott and James Card. Still in infancy stages, SLR is planning to emerge early next year as the value choice for aspiring Christian artists. Stay tuned for exciting news from SLR including Rachel Scott's debut offering...

I normally don't include projects this far from completion on my portfolio page. However, I couldn't be more eager for the outcome. I've been looking for a chance to develop an entire site with Flash MX. This will be my first original work built entirely with Flash MX (the hoc site doesn't really count as that followed too closely with a Flash tutorial project). Check back often to see how this site is progressing. Expect cool effects throughout the site as well as useful features including online ordering and newsletter signup.

MyCarAd.info MyCarAd.info plans to offer personalized web sites for the purpose of supplementing an individual's marketing strategy. FSBO's typically spend higher amounts of money by using 4-6 line classified ads to entice potential buyers to their auto. The approach is to limit classified ads to 1 or 2 lines directing buyers to view a complete vehicle description with photos online.

I had complete control over the design and development of this project, both the front end and the back end. I was eager to work on this because I knew from the start that a data driven "ad" page was the only way to go. Having recently completed the Ars Antiqua search feature (see below) which made extensive use of the .NET Datagrid object, I was feeling much more comfortable in the .NET framework. I created an Access database to hold ad information and used .NET's code behind feature to create a single Visual Basic file with all the logic to create individual ads on the fly. Each ad consists of an exact copy of one of the 4 available templates and an image folder with big and small versions of each of the 6 images displayed on the ad. Once the business idea proves viable, I plan to fully automate the ad creation process online so that customers can create their ad without the assistance of MyCarAd staff.

Tim Elafros Tim Elafros performs independant financial planning and consulting services addressing the unique needs of people in transition. Tim is a registered investment advisor and CPA with over 20 years of experience and specialization with outplacement clients since 1989.

This was a fun project because I had complete reign over stylistic elements. Tim had no previous web presence and had limited marketing materials to influence the website's look and feel. In fact, there was very limited material to provide content for the site's pages. To avoid an empty feeling I added a couple of Flash movies to provide subtle movement. The first is the page headings, which opens with some animation and continues with cyclical, subdued rotating circles. The second borrows heavily from the first by duplicating the circle rotations as "mouseover" indicators for the navigation buttons.

Andunie Andunie is the personal blog of my good friend Anthony Perez-Miller. Anthony is currently working on a PHD in the philosophy of science at Indiana University. With this degree under his belt, Anthony is anticipating a career in public policy. This blog is designed with that end in mind and will be the home for Anthony's thoughts on a wide variety of topics ranging from Tolkein to politics to science.

After nearly a year of slowly working on this project, I'm pleased to announce andunie.net is now live. This was my first attempt at creating a blog and it seems the standard has been set. This is the best looking blog I've seen and should go a long way to establishing Anthony as a reputable and professional author. The custom graphics here are great. The blog is built on the MovableType software which I ended up having to install and configure on Anthony's "blog friendly" webhost.

Ars Antiqua Ars Antiqua is the world's largest purveyor of classical vinyl records. In it's 25th year, Ars Antiqua has become the standard in the classical vinyl world. Also, publishing the highly regarded Canfield Guide has established Ars Antiqua founder, David Canfield, as the world authority on classical vinyl.

Ars Antiqua's web site has been in dire need of updating for some time. Working with a limited budget has forced this project to cover an extended period. Phase 2 which has recently been completed, complemented the redesign (phase 1) with a very flexible search engine designed to supplement the "Current Lists" posting by allowing visitors to search through the available lists with the sold items being removed from display thus increasing the likelyhood that found items will be available for purchase. Phase 3 will be a subscription based service allowing subscribers to browse an online version of the infamous Canfield Guide.

Kelley Consulting Institute Kelley Consulting Institute at Indiana University provides students with an opportunity to learn about the consulting industry, take courses specifically designed to enhance their consulting skills, and interact with consulting professors and recruiters. The Institute provides members with introductions to the concepts and techniques used by leading consultants, career consultation and coaching, training for case interviews, and site visits to offices of the major consulting firms.

I was pleased to be invited to collaborate on this project with my good friend, Jamison Day, who was approached by KCI to develop this new website. Dynamic information is loaded from an Excel spreadsheet. This site is developed on the ASP.NET framework. My role on this project was to create custom graphics that closely resembled those of another IU organization while adhering to the overall IU look. KCI also wanted me to create a Flash intro movie highlighting the underlying concepts of the group.

Church of the Good Shepherd Church of the Good Shepherd is a non-denominational church in Bloomington, Indiana.

After a long effort to complete a church website without success, CGS turned to me to update their website and offer direction for its future. The church had hired a local design shop to create a new, more modern logo. Armed with this new logo and a desire to see the church site completed, I reworked the old website, keeping almost none of the old design elements. While this site remains unfinished, there is much more here than ever before. I look forward to continuing work on this site and have plans for more improvements.

Dan Bubeck, countertenor Dan Bubeck is a professional countertenor. He recently completed his masters degree at Indiana University and travels extensively performing at various venues. He may currently be seen whereever John Adam's El Nino is performed.

With the completion of his academic career at hand, Dan knew he needed a professional looking website to promote himself. Naturally, he turned to me to help acheive this goal. Dan had very specific ideas about how his site should look and trusted me completely to implement these ideas. This site is really the first effort with a Flash intro, complete with preloader. This project was a huge success and Dan will likely become famous as a direct result of my efforts.

Audio Misison, International Audio Mission International is an independent ministry serving the conference taping needs of over 70 Christian organizations, while providing free translated materials to help equip missionaries to more effectively reach their cultures for Christ.

While I did not design or develop this site I have made extensive updates and modifications bringing it from version 1.0 to 2.3. The AMIStore portion of this site is developed using ColdFusion 4.0 and ties to a media catalog housed in a SQL Server database. Recent enhancements include modifications to the shipping rate calculation to base rates off the number of tapes bought instead of the number of products bought as many products are sets and contain multiple tapes; and the addition of memberships. AMI's marketing team proposed the organization sell memberships entitling customers to a yearly allotment of free tapes and discounts on additional purchases. Both of these enhancements represent significant modifications to both the webstore and the underlying database. I am particularly proud of this project and look forward to working with AMI on future projects.

RECA Real Estate Capital Associates (RECA) provides multi-disciplinary services to both middle market and institutional real estate operators as well as real estate advisory firms and institutional investors covering the multi-family, office, industrial, retail and healthcare sectors.

I am proud to include RECA's website in this portfolio. While longer in the works than originally intended, the result is a stellar example of attention to detail and graphic design. This project proved to be a challenge on 2 fronts. First the quality of graphic design required for this project established new boundaries for me. And second, the popup menu feature proved to be more of a challenge than it should have. The result is a first class website that this customer will be proud to show off.
